Na szlaku Tłuszcz-Warszawa, z dworca Warschau-Ost wyjeżdża się szynami i jedzie sie na wprost... I podróż trwa czasami pięć godzin i trzy ćwierci, a czasami trwa ta jazda całe życie aż do śmierci... A stacja jest maleńka i rosną trzy choinki, i napis jest zwyczajny: tu stacja Treblinki. I nie ma nawet kasy ani bagażowego, za milion nie dostaniesz biletu powrotnego... Nie czeka nikt na stacji i nikt nie macha chustką, i cisza tylko wisi, i wita głuchą pustką. I milczy słup stacyjny, i milczą trzy choinki, i milczy czarny napis, że... stacja Treblinki. I tylko wisi z dawna (reklama w każdym razie) zniszczony stary napis: "Gotujcie na gazie." |

On the line Tłuszcz-Warszawa,
from station Warschau-Ost one leaves upon the rail-tracks in a straight line almost… the journey sometimes taking some six hours, more or less, and yet sometimes lasts the journey your whole life until your death. The station is quite tiny, three firs there, in a line, this is Treblinka station proclaims the usual sign. And there’s no ticket window, a cloak-room? do not seek it! you cannot buy for millions, for your return, a ticket. And no-one on the platform his hanky waves to greet you, with only silence hanging, and emptiness to meet you. The station-sign is silent, and silent the three firs, and silent the black sign which ‘Treblinka Station’ bears. A poster also hangs there (it seems it always has), with old and faded message: ‘Cook only with gas’. |
